21st Century Teahcing and Learning is broken down into:
1. THEMES - the greater ideas about emerging and traditional areas that global citizens ahould know and care about as well as be engaged in ongoing learning.
2. SKILLS - abilities and aptitudes that are typically highly valued today, and in future classrooms and workplaces around the world.
3. TOOLS - ever changing and adaptable implements used as a means fro accomlpishing success.

Discuss the following questions:
1. Which skills do you think are most valueable for our students to master?
2. What tools do you currently use in your classroom to achieve 21st century skills?

Focus: Marcia Tate - Instructional Strategy – Brainstorming and Discussion

  • Discuss as a staff how our PAT results show that our students are struggling with the top three levels of Bloom's.
    • Analysis, Evaluation and Creation
    • These are skills that a 21st Century Learner needs.
  • Using MightyMeeting App, go through the Power Point together as a staff
    • Discuss the questions based on the two pictures of classroom learning in small groups.
    • Together as a large group share some insights.
    • Review the Brainstorming and Discussion slides as a large group
    • In small groups, read and discuss pages 2-4 from Marcia Tate's book.
    • Using the Google Docs, groups are to create a content based question using one or more of the words from the assigned level of Bloom's.
      • Show the reading examples attached to this wiki page.
    • When finished, staff get into new groups and discuss the questions that follow.
  • In the new groups, staff are to solve the math problem using any method they choose. Record on chart paper.
    • Have each group present and share their method.
    • Discuss how having students discuss and explain their method is beneficial.
  • End with Action Item.
